Introduction Maine is ranked 41st among the 50 states of U.S. Maine is located in New England region of southwestern United States. Maine was admitted to the U.S union in 1820 as 23rd state. The constitution of Maine provides three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. Maine has a bicameral legislature, which comprises of 35-members in Senator and 151-members in House of Representatives. The legislature is charged with introducing and passing the laws The Senators and the House of Representatives are both elected for two-year term. The governor of Maine serves a four year term and the executive branch is led by the governor. The executive branch is responsible for executing of the laws made by the legislature. The highest court in Maine is the Maine Supreme Court as per the judiciary authority. There are also courts like superior court, district courts and probate court. All judges except for probate judges serve full-time and are nominated by the governor.
