South Portland is a city in Cumberland County, in the Portland metro area. The community is in the Eastern Standard time zone. The climate of South Portland is pleasant with comfortable summers and falls and cold winters. Autumn is beautiful with the maximum number of sunny days. Snowfall over 100 inches occurs every 10 years. Although winters are cold, temperatures are not as freezing as in the north of the state.
Fog along the coast is sometimes a factor in the weather during the summer months of June, July and August.
